Mountain Equipment Autumn/Winter Range 2013 is in! There’s some great new products in there, including some fantastic down jackets and gloves, perfect to keep you warm through the winter. The big news for this season though is their re-designed hard shells, which all feature their brand new fit.
There are two new fits, the Alpine and Mountain Fits.
The Alpine Fit
This is a trimmer fit, designed for all-round mountaineering, skiing, walking and climbing use. Designed to map the contours of your body, the Alpine Fit cuts down on weight and bulk whilst affording complete unhindered movement. It features a new ‘reverse-camber’ centre front seam which naturally pulls the front half of the jacket around your body, minimising ‘bagging’ when leaning over. This has been coupled with a completely new shoulder block, re-balancing the distribution of fabric between the chest, shoulders and upper arms.
The Alpine Fit is available in both men’s and women’s jackets, in the Tupilak Ultra and Tupilak jackets for the men (Gore-Tex Pro), both men’s and women’s Arclight jackets (Polartec NeoShell), and the women’s Manaslu Jacket (Gore-Tex Pro).
The Mountain Fit
This uses the Alpine fit as it’s base, but allows some extra space for additional cold weather gear underneath, ideal for use in the coldest high Alpine or Arctic climates. It is, of course, also ideal for those who prefer a slightly roomier shell!
The Mountain Fit is available in the Changabang Jacket for men, and the insulated Celestial Jacket for women.
