Google Earth Facewest

Following on from an article on Pistehors.com about the new french Geoportail that was launched and crashed in about 5 minutes, I decided to have a look at it’s competitor Google Earth, something I haven’t done for a while. Following the French theme I created this image of the Face Ouest of the Glacier Du Peclet above Val Thorens. Face Ouest or Face West in english is the inspiration behind our company name, as it was one of the first ski tours that Jake and I completed when saisonaires in Meribel. It’s a great tour with some skinning, then some rocky/snow ridge walking and finally a short rope in at the top depending on conditions. Consistant 40% skiing over it’s entire length and some good crevasses to spice things up. Highly reccommended, many people choose to take a guide for this one.
