Good snow start for NZ

Mount Ruapehu.com has this to say about the pre season conditions on the north island of New Zealand. – You beauty! Non-skiers and boarders might not like this cold weather but us snow sliders love it. The skies have cleared and Mt Ruapehu looks awesome in a new coat of white. As wind has accompanied this big dumping of snow(wind affected snow in NZ, I don’t beleive it – stu), it’s hard to tell how much we’ve had. Whakapapa Snow Safety Manager, Andy Hoyle, reckons we’ve had a good metre of new snow since Friday. Are we really still in May?!

Our base for winter is setting up nicely, let’s hope it remains cold. And before any rumours start, the scheduled opening day of June 16th will remain.

So that’s good pre season snow falls in Australia and NZ. Could be time for a back to back seasons?
