Rab Mythic Ultra 120 Mod

The Rab Mythic Ultra 120 Modular Sleeping Bag is an ultralight bag / sleep system designed to be used with Rab's Ultrasphere sleeping mat. In line with an ultra light and packable design brief, the bag uses Rab's TILT heat reflective lining and 900FP European Goose Down, however the insulation is only on the top side of the bag. The idea being that the bag is attached to Rab's Ultrasphere mat (or any mummy shaped mat with an R-Value of 4+) so insulation on the underside is not needed.

The Mythic Ultra 120 attaches to the sleeping mat using integrated straps, that hold it in place and keeps the insulated side of the bag at the top. When the bag is used with a mat with an R-value of 4+ then it has a Rab sleep limit of 0°C, however it does not have a standard EAN rating as a bag with no underside insulation cannot be tested in the standard test.

The TILT heat reflective lining does an excellent job of reflecting your body heat, massively improving the warmth while still remaining very light and breathable, ensuring you don't wake up in the night soaked in sweat. The 900FP European Goose Down has a Nikwax Fluorocarbon-Free hydrophobic finish, which improved performance in damper conditions over regular down. The diagonal zip entry with YKK 2-way zip allows easy entry and exit, and versatile venting and is insulated with a down-filled anti-snag zip baffle. The down insulation is held in place by lightweight stitch-through baffle construction which makes the bag very packable.

The Mythic Ultra 120 Modular sleeping bag is quite a specialist bit of kit. It requires use in conjunction with a specific mat making it less suitable for more general users. If you are looking for a very warm and comfortable mountain marathon or ultralight bike or backpacking set up however then the Mythic Ultra 120 (330g) / Ultrasphere 4.5 mat (370g) combo has a combined weight of just 700g, giving an overall excellent performance in warmth to weight to comfort.
