The Platypus Gravity Works system is a pump free gravity fed filter system for basecamps and backpacking groups. The system consists of 2 4L reservoirs, one for dirty water, and the other for clean. They are clearly marked so you don't accidentally contaminate your clean water supply at the end of a long day. The filter itself sits in a connecting line between the bags. Capable of filtering 1.75L per minute and weighing just 326g the Gravity Works system is an absolute must for multi day wild camping trips. The whole system stows smaller than a 1L bottle so will easily fit in your regular backpacking kit.
The Gravity Works filter is a hollow fiber filter which is effective at removing 99.9999% of bacteria and 99.9% of protozoa (including Giardia, Cryptosporidium, E. coli, Salmonella and Cholera). The filter can be easily cleaned in the field by back flushing. The reservoir bag can be easily filled from a stream or other water source, simply open the top, scoop water, and close. You can control delivery of filtered water with hose shutoff clamp.
