The Petzl Leopard Crampons are super lightweight 10 point crampons perfect for ski touring. Their aluminium construction is incredibly lightweight making them suitable for snow travel, though they won't last long on rock and hard ice.
Where the weight is really saved on these compared to other ski touring crampons is the attachment between the front and rear parts of the crampon. For this Petzl have used a Cord-Tec linking system, which is essentially a tough piece of cord which attached to either and and can be looped around various notches to adjust the length of the crampon. This saves a massive amount of weight and also makes the Leopard crampon super easy to adjust - tools are not necessary - and incredibly packable.
The Leverlock FIL binding system is a heel clip and toe bar, so ski boots or mountaineering boots with both a heel and toe welt are required. The heel snaps into position making them quick to put on securely and there's an adjustable elastic strap to secure it round the ankle.
