The Petzl Dual Connect Vario is a very versatile lanyard system. It is much like the Petzl Dual Connect adjust but without the midpoint sewn loop, giving it far more versatility. This system is ideal for setting up abseils and multiple abseils, quickly securing yourself to an anchor or creating an equalised belay station when mountaineering and multi pitch climbing.
The adjustment device is a simple auto block and works just like a belay plate being used in guide mode, this means it locks when under load but allows slack to be pulled through easily to shorten the length of your lanyard. The lanyard is a dynamic rope so will absorb shock in the event of a small fall, however it is not designed to withstand a fall from above an anchor point (factor 1). Under no circumstances should it be used for Via Ferrata.
