    Full Description

The Patagonia Triolet Jacket is alpine through and through and it will keep you fully protected in heavy snow, driving wind and rain providing you with versatile and durable performance. They connect to the Patagonia Triolet Pants making a great alpine outfit to combat any weather in and leaving you free to achieve your alpine ambitions in.

Constructed from Three Layer GORE-TEX ePE that features a fully recycled polyester face with DWR for dependable protection and breathability. The hood provides maximum visibility as it is two way adjustable and has a laminated visor as well as being helmet compatible. The pit zips enable you to dump excess heat quickly when working hard and feature watertight two way zips that are welted. The arms are articulated so that the body of the jacket will not raise and expose your lower torso when reaching up.

GORE-TEX ePEis a totally PFC free waterproof membrane designed by Gore to be more sustainable and cut out harmful long chain 'forever chemicals' found in normal PTFE waterproof membranes. The ePE membrane is a thinner than standard GORE-TEX and GORE-TEX PRO, which results in a softer and more supple feel. It doesn't have the same stiff 'cardboardy' feel as older Gore membranes. The biggest perfromance difference you are most likely to notice is the DWR treatment. Unfortunately flurocarbons are some of the best, most hydrophobic chemicals out there. Getting rid of them does hit performance so you will notice that the nice 'beading' effect disappears quite quickly. Don't worry your GORE-TEX ePE jacket is still waterproof, but to maintain the beading effect you will need to top up the DWR more regularly

On the front of the jacket, providing easy access storage there are two Napoleon chest pockets with watertight zips and zipper garages. Keeping clear of your harness or a pack hip belt there are two welted handwarmer pockets that cleverly feature a stretch fabric pocket bag. For a tight wrist seal the low-profile cuffs use a tapered tab hook and loop closure and dual adjust drawcord on the hem assist in keeping the weather out. The Triolet also features a concealed Recco reflector. Fair Trade Certified sewn, which means the people who made it earned a premium for their labor.

A nice well made jacket, with the convenience of having five pockets. However, the internal pocket has no zip to secure the contents and external pockets are not large enough to take an OS map. The internal pocket can take an OS map. Unfortunately I have not been able to put it to use as I had to return both the medium and small jackets I purchased. With a BMI of just 21. 4 I can't be called obese, I'm 1. 75m tall and broad chested from doing a lot of canoeing. Unfortunately the medium was too long and the small too tight around the hips and shoulders. The fixed hood could do with some way of holding it down when not in use, so it doesn't flap around.
