    Full Description

The Patagonia Super Free Alpine Jacket is a lightweight and flexible waterproof shell made with new PFC free GORE TEX ePE 3 layer membrane and GORE C KNIT backer. The three layer, waterproof/breathable GORE TEX fabric is PFC free and 100% recycled, providing next level hardshell technology that is lightweight, packable and durable, the shell is PFC free that means the fabric, membrane and finishes do not contain perfluorinated chemicals.

GORE TEX ePEis a totally PFC free waterproof membrane designed by Gore to be more sustainable and cut out harmful long chain forever chemicals found in normal PTFE waterproof membranes. The ePE membrane is a thinner than standard GORE TEX and GORE TEX PRO, which results in a softer and more supple feel. It doesn't have the same stiff cardboardy feel as older Gore membranes. The biggest perfromance difference you are most likely to notice is the DWR treatment. Unfortunately flurocarbons are some of the best, most hydrophobic chemicals out there. Getting rid of them does hit performance so you will notice that the nice beading effect disappears quite quickly. Don't worry your GORE TEX ePE jacket is still waterproof, but to maintain the beading effect you will need to top up the DWR more regularly

The Super Free Alpine Jacket is for climbers who need a technical shell for modern alpinism. With simple yet innovative details like the helmet compatible hood with a revolutionary, lightly insulated Storm Seal gasket that seals warmth in and keeps wind out, dual point adjusts with Cohaesive cord locks. The cuffs feature minimal self fabric hook and loop closures and internal gaskets that keep sleeves in place when you're swinging ice tools.

A drop tail hem with Clean Clip hip cutout to increase high stepping mobility and reduce interference while clipping gear to a harness, Cohaesive embedded cord lock system has two contact points at hem for intuitive one handed operation. Two extra high, deep hand warmer pockets with watertight zippers stay clear of a harness or a pack waistbelt and a zippered, interior left chest pocket is handy for small essentials. There is a Concealed RECCO reflector in the hood (Please note that a RECCO reflector is not a replacement for a proper transceiver when venturing into avalanche prone terrain). The Super Free Alpine jacket is made in a Fair Trade Certified factory, which means the people who made this product earned a premium for their labour.
