Ortovox Diract Voice

The Ortovox Diract Voice is an avalanche rescue transceiver with a unique voice direction feature. Clear, simple spoken instructions tell you what to do in every phase of your search, which is intended to make things a simple as possible and keep you calm when your partners survival is at stake. The Diract Voice is powered by an integrated low temperature rechargeable lithium ion battery doing away with the need for AA or AAA batteries.

Any users, beginner to experienced, who are looking for the most intuitive transceiver to use with very little practice or experience (Facewest note: we recommend getting in as much practice as possible with your transceiver however simple it is).

Ease of Use

The Diract Voice features unique voice instructions as discussed above, however even without the vocal instructions it is still a very intuitive device. The large 34mm x 45mm display is very clear, even in very bright conditions. The SEND/SEARCH switch is a large obvious orange lever on the top of the device making it very apparent which mode you are in. This lever covers the on/off button when in SEND mode so there is zero chance that the device can be accidentally turned off when in its carry holster. There is a simple MARK button on the front of the device, to mark a signal as found if you are part of a search team and want to find the next signal while other team members dig.

The Diract Voice has a search strip width of up to 50m which is comparable with other devices from Black Diamond and Pieps. The three antenna Diract Voice comes with Smart-Antenna Technology, which analyzes the device's location in the avalanche and automatically switches to the best transmitting antenna. This means you get up to double the range and will be found more quickly

Other features on the Diract Voice include an auto revert which will automatically switch to send from search; a Rescue-Send Mode which sets the device to neither receiver or transmit signals; if no motion is detected it will switch back to send mode; self test on startup and group test for checks at the start of the day. The Diract Voice can be connected to the Ortovox smartphone App (Apple iOS or Android) via bluetooth for software updates.
