The Norrona Lofoten Gore-Tex Pants are the ultimate companion for freeriding adventures, offering exceptional waterproofness, breathability, and durability. But don't be limited – these versatile shells excel in all ski and snowboard activities, from carving groomed runs to exploring backcountry powder. Built with the legendary 3-layer 70DX160D GORE-TEX ePE fabric, these pants boast industry-leading waterproofness (28,000mm) and breathability (RET 20). They completely block wind and keep you dry during intense snowfalls, while allowing sweat to escape for optimal comfort during exertion. The Lofoten Pants utilise 100% recycled polyester face fabric and a recycled brushed polyester flannel backer. Additionally, the Vectran 163 gm2 reinforced lower leg enhances tear and cut resistance for those unexpected encounters with sharp edges.
GORE-TEX ePEis a totally PFC free waterproof membrane designed by Gore to be more sustainable and cut out harmful long chain 'forever chemicals' found in normal PTFE waterproof membranes. The ePE membrane is a thinner than standard GORE-TEX and GORE-TEX PRO, which results in a softer and more supple feel. It doesn't have the same stiff 'cardboardy' feel as older Gore membranes. The biggest performance difference you are most likely to notice is the DWR treatment. Unfortunately flurocarbons are some of the best, most hydrophobic chemicals out there. Getting rid of them does hit performance so you will notice that the nice 'beading' effect disappears quite quickly. Don't worry your GORE-TEX ePE jacket is still waterproof, but to maintain the beading effect you will need to top up the DWR more regularly
The Lofoten GORE-TEX Pans feature two zippered hand pockets, two thigh pockets, a back pocket, and a key/card pocket keep essentials secure. Mesh-lined side vents from upper thigh to knee help regulate temperature during ascents or warmer days. Reinforced lower leg hem with snap adjustments for a secure fit around boots. Integrated snow gaiters keep powder snow out of your boots.
