The Mammut Eiger Free Advanced Hooded Jacket is the pinnacle of feather-light performance, hard-wearing durability, and exceptional packability. This stripped-down powerhouse delivers everything you need to conquer challenging ascents and epic powder descents, without the unnecessary bulk. Developed in collaboration with Mammut pro athletes Jeremie Heitz and Nadine Wallner, the Eiger Free Advanced pushes the boundaries of hardshell technology. Supple, high-performance fabric combined with the waterproof, breathable, and PFC-free GORE-TEX ePE membrane creates an uncompromising barrier against the elements. Plus, this innovative construction is sustainable, minimizing environmental impact.
GORE-TEX ePEis a totally PFC free waterproof membrane designed by Gore to be more sustainable and cut out harmful long chain 'forever chemicals' found in normal PTFE waterproof membranes. The ePE membrane is a thinner than standard GORE-TEX and GORE-TEX PRO, which results in a softer and more supple feel. It doesn't have the same stiff 'cardboardy' feel as older Gore membranes. The biggest performance difference you are most likely to notice is the DWR treatment. Unfortunately flurocarbons are some of the best, most hydrophobic chemicals out there. Getting rid of them does hit performance so you will notice that the nice 'beading' effect disappears quite quickly. Don't worry your GORE-TEX ePE jacket is still waterproof, but to maintain the beading effect you will need to top up the DWR more regularly

One-hand adjustable features for effortless adjustments, even with gloves on. Inside is a zip-off snow skirt for a customized fit and additional protection against snow intrusion.
