International School of Mountaineering - ISM

A warm welcome to the International School of Mountaineering, dedicated to sharing the skills, enjoyment and the adventure of mountaineering in all of its aspects.

Owned, managed and operated by a team of vastly experienced IFMGA guides, ISM has a proud history spanning over 50 years. Our school has continuously developed and refined its program of courses in alpine mountaineering, rock and ice climbing, off-piste and ski touring. Based in the alpine village of Leysin our central location gives easy access to a huge range of peaks in the Bernese Oberland, Valais Alps and Mont Blanc regions.

We take a particular pride in our range of instructional courses, allowing you to progress along a clear pathway and gain practical skills and experience needed for independent mountaineering.

Our guiding and customised courses also have a strong emphasis on developing your skills, whilst climbing some of the great peaks of the Alps. Our bespoke expeditions to the Andes and Kyrgyzstan, have allowed our clients to apply those skills to previously unclimbed routes and mountains.
