The DMM Mantis could be just another belay plate, essentially it is. However as ropes get ever thinner then the belay plate has to be reinvented to accommodate these new super skinny ropes. The Mantis has been designed to take ropes from 7.5mm right through to 11mm, the full spectrum. This makes the Mantis the most versatile belay plate available today. And because ropes are made thinner and thinner they get lighter. To compliment this the Mantis weighs in at a mere 45g ensuring your rack stays light.
The Manits HMS Belay set comes with a DMM Shadow HMS carabiner, which is a great locking carabiner for belay and general use.
