The Arcteryx Thorium Hoody is a superb down jacket providing warmth and versatility on cold dry days. The Thorium Hoody can be used as a super warm midlayer or as a lighter outer jacket, an ideal choice for any winter mountain sport.
Arcteryx use Down Composite Mapping (DCM) in the Thorium Hoody. DCM is where Coreloft synthetic insulation is used instead of down in areas prone to moisture - the hood, collar, chin and cuffs - as down loses performance quickly when wet. These areas are also prone to down migration and the use of Coreloft eliminates this problem as it remains static within the jacket. Finest quality, and responsibly sourced 750 fill European goose down is then used throughout the body and arms where warmth is required the most.
The outer is made from a durable yet soft Arato 30 fabric that benefits from a DWR finish to repel moisture. The StormHood provides excellent protection from the elements and is low volume. The elasticated cuffs and adjustable drawcord hem assist in preventing any icy drafts and help keep your essential warmth trapped inside the jacket. The two internal dump pockets are useful for storing gloves or other large items.
