New Packs from Deuter, Arcteryx, Lowe Alpine and Patagonia

We’ve got a number of new packs for 2018, they all fit into the walking/hiking/general use category.

The new Deuter Aircontact Lite series are a range of packs ideal for all hikes and treks. The AirContact system provides a good airflow to your back to keep sweat to a minimum for all day comfort. Plus the lightweight design means you’re not lugging around a load of unnecessary weight. There’s a women’s specific version of each of the 3 sizes; 40, 50 and 65 litre (men’s) and 35, 45 and 60 litre (women’s).

The other new Deuter Pack is the Speed Lite 32. This is a more climbing centric pack than the AirContact series as it features an Air Lite back system designed to distribute load evenly and keep your centre of gravity forward. The lightweight construction and narrow body suits it to fast and light alpine adventures, though it will still be at home as a lightweight hiking pack.

From Lowe Alpine we’ve got the Airzone Trail packs which, like the AirContact Deuter Packs, have an airflow back system (Airzone) and are designed to be ideal long distance hiking packs. They are smaller than the Deuter packs with 35 litres and 25 litres available and so are ideal day or lightweight weekend trip packs.

We’ve also got the Lowe Alpine Spark 18 which is an all round pack with a draw cord top. It’s ideal for just chucking stuff in when heading out for the day or even down the supermarket. It has a great clean design with a single compartment plus security pocket.

From Arcteryx there are the new Brize packs. Great all rounders designed for versatility so they’re not out of place on a scramble, walk or trip into town. The Aeroform thermoformed back panel doesn’t soak up sweat and it has quick access side pockets.  Trekking poles can also be stowed with SwiftClip bungee straps on the dual daisy chains. It’s available in both 25 and 32 litre sizes.

We’ve also got the Arbor Pack from Patagonia, which is a retro styled urban/outdoors pack. At 26 litres it can fit plenty in and it isn’t as retro on the inside with a padded laptop compartment complete with securing buckle. Despite the look it’s not lost any performance and has curved shoulder straps for a comfortable carry as well as a polyurethane coating with DWR finish to keep showers out.
