Need new gear for the ski season?

Deep powder

Ok, so perhaps it’s slightly early to be uttering the words ‘ski season’ whilst we’re still getting over the mainly pleasant summer we’ve had in the UK, but the anticipation is already becoming unbearable!

Don’t we all begin to wonder? Ski holiday plans start to form in your mind before you’ve even organised time off with the boss, and I don’t mean your other half!

Quite right, I reckon. After all, there are so many questions to be answered: Last-minute trip or early reservation? France or Switzerland? Who with? Have I got the right gear?

For me, the answer to the latter is almost always no. I hark back to my last trip and remember that day where I definitely could have done with some thermal baselayers in the beautiful deep, but very chilly, powder.

And then the time before that, where I had a very well insulated jacket for my week in Alpe d’Huez, which can be one of the warmest resorts in the Southern Alps. The word ‘breathability’ had never been more prominent, so I decided to get myself a new jacket with all the waterproof qualities but much better heat and sweat removal.

With all this new gear to take, I then needed an upgrade for the 10 year old suitcase with the wobbly wheels.

And I always treat myself to a new beanie for suitable après attire!
