Interesting article here in the Independant on potential new skiing laws in Italy.
It is worth noting here that Off Piste sking itself is not currently under threat, rather the possibility to punish those that irresponsibly ignore avalanche warnings and force a rescue or endanger others. Of course the laws could then be applied to any off piste skier or mountaineer to prevent them from doing something. Laws can always be applied both sensibly and not and it is the arbitary judgement of someone to say what is responsible and what is not. As the artcle states these types of law exist already in Austria and Switzerland but there is stillplenty of adventurous skiing going on there.
