Great Ski Touring Conditions in French Alps

After the recent dump of 50cms of snow last week there was a frenzy of off piste skiing and everything got tracked out quickly in the ski areas.

Touring conditions in the Northern French Alps are fantastic at present, whilst the snow below 1800 metres is poor, the conditions above 2000m are very good, with a good base and plenty of soft snow to be found on North facing slopes.

Neil Cruickshank and I (Jake Herbert- Co owner of Facewest.co.uk) set off from Areches-Beaufort to explore the Higher slopes of the Beaufortain.

The huts in this area are fantastic and no one else was around.
We climbed over 2300m in 2 days and had some fantastic runs.
