The Petzl Glacier is a lightweight walking and touring axe perfect for glacier travel. It has a high quality steel pick which is identical to the picks found on the more technical axes giving it excellent anchoring. The lightweight anodized aluminium shaft has a cut handle for a better grip when used for technical ice climbing. Although this is primarily a walking axe it is still up to the job when the terrain gets technical.

The toothed steel pick has a technical profile and is narrow at the tip for secure anchoring on hard ice whilst the stainless steel spike will penetrate hard snow well. The adze is designed to give a comfortable supporting surface whilst being able to cut efficiently. This is a brilliant and highly capable lightweight walking, touring and mountaineering axe.

Excellent walking axe. I'm 6ft and the 68cm is ideal for me. The axe actually comes with the petzl linkin already attached so good value.

I haven't had a chance to use the axe yet, but the build quality is very impressive. Very nice balance, and extremely well put together, definitely and item that you could put a lot of trust in. It is great value for a novice such as myself because it comes with the leash included. On a related note I found buying from Facewest to be a very good experience; very good prices, and their shipping was quite reasonable for cost and it was rather quick.
