I purchased this map case upon recommendation from a friend. Although there are cheaper cases on the market I was assured I wouldn't be disappointed with the quality and it was worth spending a few pounds more. The case is very lightweight and the waterproof seal is great. The ability to flip the case across to just one sheet of a map and attach the cord to hold it together is a great feature and came in useful on a recent hike. I'm very happy and would say that the quality speaks for itself. Couple that with a hefty guarantee and you can't go wrong!

Having used other, cheaper brands for many years 'cos it's just a map case, yet another tore and had to be duct-taped up in the middle of Knoydart. which is an OK solution as long as you never need to use another map (or part of the map) other than the current one. So, after seeing my (older and wiser) brother using an Ortlieb case, I thought I'd take the plunge, obviously checking Facewest for price which proved fruitful since it turned out to be only à "šÃ‚£12. 50 inc. a modest loyalty bonus. Used it at the weekend and it is, indeed just a map case, but it's also so much better than any other I've used - folds well without crinkling, appears tough as, and just, well, works. So, buy cheap buy twice. . yadda yadda yadda. . (actually many many more times than that) but it's true. Yeah, just a map case but the best one out there as far as I know.

I purchased this map case to carry my map when I am hill walking in all weathers. I like the fact that it is very light, and the soft plastic material means that it is very flexible. I also like the roll over flap which ensures that the map inside keeps dry in all weathers. My last map case was made of thicker plastic so wasn't so flexible. There is a larger version available but I feel that this size (27x27cm)is a good balance between being able to fit a Landranger or Explorer map but yet not too big to carry around your neck. I previously ordered a similar item from another supplier and discovered that there was no drawstring attached (it was for a cyclist rather then a hiker). On the negative side the plastic hooks for the drawstring feel rather thin and I wonder how long they will last. Overall a good buy.

This is a great map case that is easy to use and completely waterproof. I purchased this for some serious outdoor hiking pursuits in all types of weather and have given it a few months of testing prior to this review. The case is made of a silicone type compound that is hard wearing yet doesn't mark/scratch easily. This enables it to maintain it's crystal clear transparency and makes it completely waterproof. Highly recommended and worth the extra few pounds. 'You get what you pay for' has never been more true.

This is probably the best map case you can get in my opinion. It is the only map case the Royal Marines instructors recommend buying, some have had theirs for over 15 years without needing replacement. They are very strong and don't stretch, discolour or crinkle. They seal up well and don't let any moisture in, the last thing you want is a wet map. I have ditched my Silva map case for this and I am positive that this will last well into the future; a top investment. Plus a great price and customer service from Facewest.

Definitely the best map-case on the market. Proper bombproof bit of kit, unlike many others out there. It's totally waterproof (as would be expected of Ortlieb) and a good size for fitting a folded OS map. Material is soft, so won't crack like others in the cold. Overall a worthwhile investment as it will outlast any other map case out there.

I am very pleased with these map case, much better than previous ones cheap I have used. 100 % waterproof, after 6 hours of march under heavy rain the map is dry. Robustbut flexible and stays flexible even when it gets cold. You can fold it up andput in rucksack or jacket pocket, nothing damage or crinkle. The size allow you see a good area of the map. I have never had any condensation inside the case, you need only flatten the air out of it before folding over the roll-top closure. The neck cord does not attach properly and keeps coming off (but I don't use it). This is the only weakness that I find. Thoroughly recommended.

Got to say this is the best map case I have ever had, used it for the wow 100 last week end fed up of not being able to read map and route description no problem with this. fast and easy purchase and delivery from Facewest as usual thanks.

I purchased this map case for walking throughout the UK, after my previous Outdoor Designs mapcase cracked. I used it on a wet Bank Holiday weekend and was very pleased. The map case is lighter than those I have used previously, the closure is secure, it is easy to fit OS Maps in (without cutting the edges off them), and there is nothing to obscure your view of the map. It is a soft plastic so hopefully won't crack in the same way as my last one. Well worth the extra cost.

This has a very good fold over velcro closure that will prevent water entry, better than the Silva case. Size will accomodate an os map folded to 10 x 8. 5 inches ie twosquares. Plastic is soft an easy to fold , much more flexible than my sea to summit case. The attachment points for the lanyard clips seem very thin however, but have to test long term.
